The 5 tools on the same fields
Lovable
- Best for: founders, marketers and operations staff building internal tools, prototypes and customer-facing web apps.
- Main limitation: Free accounts cannot edit or download code, use custom domains or remove the "Edit with Lovable" badge, and Free build credits stop at 30 a month.
- Price or plan limits: Free with 5 daily build credits (30 a month cap); Pro from USD 25 a month (USD 21 a month billed annually) for 100 credits; Business from USD 50 a month for 100 credits, adding SSO and training exclusion by default, as listed on 17 October 2026.

Lovable Pro cost USD 25 a month for 100 credits, according to Lovable's subscription plans documentation checked 17 October 2026.
Replit
- Best for: people building apps with databases, third-party connectors or several published projects, who want build, data and hosting in one place.
- Main limitation: the free Starter plan allows Lite build only, one published app with a "Made with Replit" badge, and that published link goes down after 30 days.
- Price or plan limits: Replit's pricing page lists Core at USD 20 a month or USD 18 billed annually, with USD 20 toward more powerful models, and Pro at USD 100 a month or USD 90 annually, with 10 parallel agents and up to 15 collaborators, as listed on 17 October 2026.

Replit's free Starter plan includes one published app whose link goes down after 30 days, according to Replit's documentation checked 17 October 2026.
Bolt
- Best for: testing an idea for free, and small sites or apps that you want hosted without extra setup.
- Main limitation: Bolt's FAQ says most token use comes from syncing your project's files to the AI, so the larger the project, the more tokens each message costs.
- Price or plan limits: Bolt's pricing page lists Free at USD 0 with a 300,000 token daily limit and 1M tokens a month, Pro at USD 25 a month starting at 10M tokens a month with rollover, and Teams at USD 30 a member a month, as listed on 17 October 2026.
- Publishing: website hosting is on every plan; Free sites carry Bolt branding, and custom domains start on Pro.
Bolt's Free plan allowed 1 million tokens a month with a 300,000 token daily cap, according to Bolt's pricing page checked 17 October 2026.
v0
- Best for: designers and founders who want a polished interface quickly and plan to host on Vercel.
- Main limitation: the Free plan caps you at 7 messages a day, and paid usage is metered in dollars of model tokens.
- Price or plan limits: v0's pricing page lists Free at USD 0, Plus at USD 30 a user a month with USD 30 of monthly credits and USD 2 of daily login credits, and Business at USD 100 a user a month with training opt-out by default, as listed on 17 October 2026.
- Publishing: apps deploy to Vercel and sync with GitHub, both on the Free plan.
v0 Free allowed 7 messages a day, and Plus cost USD 30 a user a month, according to v0's pricing page checked 17 October 2026.
Cursor
- Best for: people who have outgrown an app builder and want to read, change and own every file.
- Main limitation: Cursor is a code editor you install, so you set up your own project, hosting and database; it assumes you can follow what the agent changes.
- Price or plan limits: Cursor's models and pricing documentation lists Plus at USD 8 a month with Grok models and Composer only, and Premium at USD 30 a month with third-party models such as Claude billed at API list price, as listed on 17 October 2026.
- Publishing: no app hosting is listed on individual plans; Premium adds code hosting on Cursor's Origin and AI code review with Bugbot.
Cursor Plus cost USD 8 a month and included only Grok models and Composer, according to Cursor's pricing documentation checked 17 October 2026.
How vibe coding tools charge you
The plan price is the floor, not the bill: every tool here meters the AI work separately.
Each tool counts work in a different unit, which makes prices hard to compare at a glance:
- Credits (Lovable, Replit). Lovable charges per message based on the work done, from 0.50 credits for a style change to 1.70 for a landing page with generated images. Hosting and the app's backend use the same balance.
- Tokens (Bolt). Bolt counts tokens, and each message includes your project's files, so costs per message rise as the app grows.
- Dollars of model usage (v0, Cursor). v0 Plus includes USD 30 of monthly credits, then bills model tokens, from USD 0.20 per 1M input tokens on v0 Mini to USD 5 on v0 Max. Cursor bills third-party models at their API list price from prepaid credit.
Two habits keep costs in check. Ask for one change per message, and start a fresh chat or project when a build gets long, since long histories cost more to process.
Security is still your job
An app built from prompts can work perfectly in a demo and still leak data. Veracode's 2025 GenAI Code Security Report tested more than 100 language models on 80 coding tasks and found security flaws from the OWASP Top 10 in 45% of cases. The models failed to guard against cross-site scripting in 86% of relevant cases. Veracode also found that security results did not improve as models got better at writing working code.
Veracode's 2025 GenAI Code Security Report found that more than 100 AI models introduced security flaws in 45% of its 80-task test cases.
Before you share an app with real users:
- Check who can see what. Log in as two different test users and confirm neither can see the other's data.
- Keep secrets out of the code. API keys and passwords belong in the tool's secrets or environment settings, never pasted into a prompt or a page.
- Use the plan's training settings. Lovable Free and Pro let each account opt out of model training, while Business excludes workspace data by default; v0 Business opts out by default. Our AI tool privacy checklist covers the rest.
- Get a human review before you take payments or store health, financial or student data.
How to choose
Run the same small project through two tools on their free plans:
- Write a one-paragraph brief: who uses the app, the three screens it needs and what data it stores.
- Build the first version in Lovable and in Bolt, using the same brief.
- Make three changes in each: one visual, one adding a field, and one adding a login.
- Note what each change cost in credits or tokens.
- Publish both and test them on your phone.
- Pick the tool that needed fewer fixes, then upgrade only that one.
If you only need a marketing site with a few pages, an AI website builder such as Squarespace or Framer is simpler and cheaper. Owners using these builders for internal tools should also read our small business AI guide.
How we rank
We compared what each tool builds from a prompt, free and paid plan limits, how usage is metered, hosting and publishing options, code export and Git sync, and training settings, as listed on each vendor's pricing and documentation pages on 17 October 2026. The order reflects how well each tool fits someone who does not write code: tools that host the app and need no local setup rank higher. Our ranking method explains how documented limits shape each verdict.
Frequently asked questions
What are the best vibe coding tools for beginners? Lovable, then Bolt. Both build and host an app from a prompt in the browser, and Bolt's free plan allows 1M tokens a month.
Is Lovable free? Yes, with limits. The Free plan gives 5 build credits a day, up to 30 a month, but code editing, code download and custom domains need Pro from USD 25 a month.
Can I export the code from a vibe coding tool? Usually yes. Lovable syncs to GitHub, GitLab or Bitbucket on every plan, and v0 syncs with GitHub on its Free plan.
Is Replit free? Yes, the Starter plan is free, but it allows Lite build only and one published app whose link goes down after 30 days. Core costs USD 20 a month.
What is the difference between vibe coding tools and AI coding tools? Vibe coding tools build and host a whole app from plain-English prompts in the browser. AI coding tools such as GitHub Copilot or Claude Code help developers write code in their own editor.
Is Cursor a vibe coding tool? Partly. Cursor's agent can build an app from a prompt, but you install an editor and manage hosting yourself, so it suits people who can read code.
Are apps made with vibe coding tools secure? Not automatically. Veracode's 2025 study found security flaws in 45% of AI-generated code test cases, so test data access and keep secrets out of prompts.
Do unused credits roll over? On some plans. Lovable Pro and Business roll over credits, and Bolt paid plans keep unused tokens for one extra month.
